Men & Women of Football History

In 2010, seventy or so former players attended a reunion dinner at the Hamilton Azzurri Football Club in Highfields, NSW. The intention was to fraternise and renew old friendships, but the event was such a success that organisers realised the gathering had more to offer.

While most ex-players were enjoying comfortable times, there were those who weren’t. It was decided to create a fund-raising project to assist former players who had fallen on hard times.

A committee was formed, a name agreed on and then registered as Men of Football. In 2021 the name was changed to Men & Women of Football.

Since its inception the Hunter chapter’s diary has depicted our football-flavoured fund-raising activities:
