Johnny Warren Football Foundation Gala Dinner

Committee members Graham Hills and Bill Pryce joined a table of ten at the Johnny Warren Gala Dinner on 25th May 2011 to support the cause of the Foundation and to establish links with stakeholders from Western Sydney interested in creating a new Men of Football Chapter.

Driving force for this push is Richie Williams, a former Marconi player, who has facilitated groups from Western Sydney over recent years to create a community based A League franchise in the west.

The dinner was a spectacular event with guest speakers Holger Osieck, Tom Sermanni and 2011 Johnny Warren medal holder Marcos Flores providing candid comments for the 200 strong audience.

Marcos Flores took the stage with Les Murray for what many believe was the highlight of the evening. Charming, funny and passionate are all words that spring to mind when describing the likeable Argentine.

The foundation’s current projects include:
· An indigenous youth program which aims to take football to Aboriginal children throughout rural and regional Australia, allowing them the chance to play football regardless of location
· Working with the Football Federation of Australia (FFA) on their Skilleroos program (National Skills Acquisition Program)
· Programs for other disadvantaged youth
· Women’s football
· Programs that link football with school attendance and improved health outcomes
